A preference can exist inside a limit. You might need to finish an ordinary task while having room to choose a safe method or where to begin. The limit does not have to disappear for the detail to be yours.
You can also find that nothing is available to choose right now. That is an honest description, rather than a failure of imagination. This reflection keeps your actual circumstances in the sentence about what you would prefer.
One question
What preference can I name while keeping the real limit visible?
One small practice
On paper, describe a real requirement in a manageable task. Beside it, write a safely available preference about a detail, or note that no choice is available. Do not invent room that is not there.
Finish: "Within this limit, my preference would be ____." You can stop at naming it. No change, positive conclusion, or proof of control is required.
Use paper or a private note. Nothing needs to be submitted.

Questions people ask
Can a preference remain unavailable?
Yes. You can know what you would prefer while recognizing that the present limit does not allow it. The practice asks for an honest description. It does not require you to make room or present a constraint as an opportunity.
What if I choose the same method I always use?
That can still be your preference in this setting. The exercise does not make difference the goal. You can recognize a familiar method as something you choose, without needing to change it to demonstrate that a choice exists.
