Give curiosity a brief private trial

Try a small version of an interest with available materials and no result to show.

Week 3B · 6 of 8 · 2 min read

A small trial can use what is already within reach. You might sketch a detail, read a short part of something, or describe an idea on paper. There is no need to gather equipment or arrange an audience.

The trial is a chance to notice your preference in a specific moment. It can end with interest, indifference, or wanting a different version. None of those observations needs to become a judgment about the interest itself.

One question

What do I notice when I try a brief version of this preference?

One small practice

Choose an interest you can explore briefly with available materials. Try a small part, such as a sketch or a paragraph, or describe the trial on paper if trying it now does not fit.

Complete: "In this brief version, I notice ____." You can stop at any point. No finished result, improvement, or wish to continue is required.

Use paper or a private note. Nothing needs to be submitted.

Questions people ask

Can planning the trial be enough for today?

Yes. The practice offers a written description when trying the activity does not fit. You can leave that plan as a possibility. It does not need to become an appointment or a promise to carry it out later.

What if I would prefer a different version afterward?

You can record that observation without treating the trial as a mistake. The page asks what you notice in a particular version. It does not require you to keep it or draw a lasting conclusion about the interest.
