Week 4A · 7 of 8 · 2 min read
You can value a form of care without listing what you have done to deserve it. Being listened to or having room for quiet does not need to become a reward for how helpful you have been.
Stay with an ordinary preference. This reflection does not ask you to assess a relationship or prove a belief about your worth. It simply leaves your contribution out of the sentence about what care you would welcome.
One question
What care do I value without making it a reward for my usefulness?
One small practice
Think of a manageable form of care you would welcome. Describe it without adding a reason about what you have achieved, provided, or done for someone else. Keep the note focused on the care itself.
Write: "Care I can value without earning it is ____." You can stop here. No proof of deservingness or conclusion about a relationship is required.
Use paper or a private note. Nothing needs to be submitted.

Questions people ask
Should I list what I contribute first?
For this practice, leave that list aside. The sentence describes a form of care you value without making usefulness the condition for naming it. You do not need to deny your contributions or justify the preference through them.
What if the wording feels unfamiliar?
You can use more ordinary words or keep the answer uncertain. The exercise is a description you are free to leave, rather than a belief you must adopt. There is no required feeling about the sentence when you finish.
