Begin by naming the opening move

Sketch the beginning of a possible hour using materials already within reach.

Week 3B · 6 of 10 · 2 min read

An hour with a name can still feel vague. You can make its opening more concrete without doing the whole experiment now. Reading might begin with choosing a page; making might begin with putting a pencil on paper.

The smallest version here is a plan for that beginning. It leaves the scheduled hour available for exploration, with no requirement to know the ending or make anything worth showing.

One question

What is the first small action inside the hour I am considering?

One small practice

Choose the possible hour from your notes, or name a fresh example. Write its opening action in words you could recognize: open a book, find an old sketch, or choose a subject to explore.

Complete: "At the beginning, I could ____." Keep the note private. You can stop after planning the opening; there is no score for starting today or carrying the experiment through.

Use paper or a private note. Nothing needs to be submitted.

Questions people ask

Can the opening move be only preparation?

Yes. Choosing a page or finding a sketch can be the whole opening you describe. This practice gives the possible hour a concrete beginning. It does not make preparation a test of whether you are serious about the direction.

What if I change the opening when the hour arrives?

The note can change with your circumstances. It is a possible beginning, not a set of instructions you owe yourself. If another action fits the same interest better, you can choose it or decide to leave the hour unused.
